Research papers and Time Management

During the next two weeks, i need to work on citing and quoting throughout my research paper. Paying close attention to small grammatical errors that can be easily fixed by going over the paper again in a thorough review. I  will also work on formatting my works cited page that reflects the MLA format. Overall i need to pay closer attention to formatting my research paper by using the guidelines provided by the professor.

Close reading of Film Still's in I-Robot

 In this particular still, you can see the frustration on the actors face, Detective Del Spooner is in the middle of an investigation and you can clearly see his anger with dealing with these artificially manufactured robots. you can see that the robots have a negative effect on him, but to them he is nothing more than a human they are here to serve.  The Cinematographers used CGI to multiply the amount of robots in the room, and it really gives you a clear image of how outnumbered humans are to these robots, and what that could potentially mean if there were to be an uprising.  i believe that the clothing color choices would be something truly amiss the first time just watching the movie, but by doing this close reading, you can see a color contrast between the humans in the movie and the white robots, maybe it was made to show the good and evil in both, who knows. this could prove one of my thesis statements posed by one of the articles I've cited, does the white robot and African American cop portray some sort of post modern racism where the white robots are superior than the humans  through this exercise I've been able to dissect the movie and see it for what the creators may have wanted us to see but couldn't on just the first watch, giving it a second look through a clearer lens allows me to break down the dynamics and the message of the movie.

in this image we can clearly see our main characters frustration full force, hes been at war with the robots and now we see that he himself has had some sort of robotic installment on his arm. and that could very well be the reason why he doesn't like the robots, maybe he is resentful having himself be part robotic.

My Milestone #3 "Research Game Plan"

I'm writing my paper on the portrayal of Artificial intelligence through the eyes of Robots in the movie I- Robot will be a major source of my research and i'll  need to find scholarly articles supporting this theory in an addition to a extra source and maybe an encyclopedia or newspaper article to complete the types of sources I need to have a sound research paper.

The Portrayal Of Robots in Film

for my research paper ill  dissecting the growing concerns about the use of artificial intelligence and its exact use with these new super robots replacing humans in many jobs. using an article procured using Jstor entitled  The Persistent Peril of the Artificial Slave written by Kevin La Grandeur discusses the use of artificial intelligence in different fields that were once occupied by humans such as in the military and its use to evolve weaponry. this is just one job that has been taken over by the use of Artificial intelligent robots, but it doesn't stop there we have simplistic jobs such as working a switch board in a call center have been taken over by automated computers not even here in the US but outsourced to other cheaper paid countries. this growing phenomena is discussed widely in his article. he states that the use of these "super robots" can actually be more detriment that good to us in the future;
" I see the problem with artificial slaves as not merely one of the violent rebellion that is the subject of so much fiction about advanced, self-conscious
AI; such rebellion is just a subset of the bigger problem, which is the impulse
(or willingness) not just to create servants that are more powerful than oneself,
but also to give them too much power, to allow them to be inappropriate proxies
for oneself." .  this outright handing over of power to something we crated that could potentially render us helpless at their mercy is exactly what the movie I-robot tried to convey.
i liked his standpoint on AI because it ties into exactly how i feel about allowing technology to be more advanced than its creators.

Another article i found interesting but doesn't really  go hand in hand with my ideal of what I-robot was trying to portray was an article i found using the Jstor database and its The Post-White Imaginary in Alex Proyas's "I, Robot" written by Sean Brayton and he actually equates the use of "white robots" going up against an African American Cop as a contrast alluding to a post racial city, where these robot antagonists actually represent a racial indifference where the robots have a superior role than those of the humans. i enjoyed his standpoint on this because it gives a tangible understanding of the movie and what it may represent in our everyday life said this robot evolution does take over, what we could potentially expect.

My Research Topic

My research topic is based on the portrayal of Robots in film particularly in I- robot and ill be focusing in on the pros and cons of the growing field and use artificial intelligence  in today's technological growing world. Many believe that humans will become obsolete in the near future if we keep advancing in the use of robots. Job outsourcing is a major concern for people whom are being replaced by these said robots or computers and the film I- robot gives us a higher stake wage to be lost if robots keep advancing who's to say they wont surpass their programmers one day. These are all  viable concerns and theories id like to address in my research paper.

Tech-no

Welcome to My Blog, my name is Kiyani Larosa and i am a sophomore here at Laguardia community college majoring in liberal arts.  Upon graduation, i intend on going to Queens College to pursue a degree in Education in hopes of becoming a teacher. I enjoy reading and traveling as my pastimes, and for the most part i am a novice when it comes to technology, i can manage the basics but any of the in depth stuff ive left to the younger crowd such as  my 18 year old sister. i feel like people base too much of their lives and way of existing around technology and or social media. i would much rather be someplace where internet access was regulated or restricted to certain times of day so that people can actually take time to embrace their surroundings or the people around them children and or techno freaks may be optimistic about technology because to me most of them happen to develop social ineptness and to them they think that their interacting on a higher level when their playing a video game from NY with someone all the way in china. i feel like too much of anything can be bad for you, or it could be i don't understand technology as much as they do so it could be my inadequate knowledge of what a GB or KB is that fuels my pessimism for technology. id much rather curl up on a quiet island with a new book and escape the chatter of keyboards.
